This is a chemical agent that promotes wakefulness, and is used to relieve excessive sleepiness and loss of attention.
History
Adrafinil was discovered in the late 70s by some scientists working Group Lafon; a French pharmaceutical company. It was first offered in 1986 as a tentative treatment for narcolepsy but then the company developed the drug called Modafinil, which is the primary metabolite of adrafinil.
It does not presently have any FDA approval and is therefore, in the US. It went on sale under the Olmifon elsewhere in Europe, except in France until 2011 when its FDA equivalent reassessed the drug and withdrew marketing permission. The reason for this was known adverse reactions and unpleasant risk to benefit ration. Mechanism of action, Adrafinil vs Modafinil
The exact mechanism of action for this drug is unclear. However, most researchers suppose that both adrafinil and Modafinil serve as adrenergic receptor agonists. There exists weak evidence in support of this and other mechanisms are probable.
It is a prodrug that is primarily metabolized similar to Modafinil thus resulting in identical pharmacological effects. In comparison to Modafinil, this drug takes time for the metabolite to accumulate to active levels in the bloodstream. When taken orally on an empty stomach, the effects are seen within 40-60 minutes.
Who uses the chemical?
The product can be used off-label by individuals who are looking forward to avoiding fatigue, especially night workers or others who need to stay awake and alert for longer periods of time. University students who have many random papers can use this chemical to stay awake without feeling fatigued and less on energy. The effects will be evident after the 45-60 minutes. Provigil dosages range from 1-400 milligrams daily, with an absolute maximum dosage at 400 milligrams, anything higher than this and the effects start to go downhill. Provigil is around 1-2 times stronger than Adrafinil. However, as you’ve seen advertised on the site, Hydrafinil, is around 4x stronger than Provigil. Way cheaper too, dosages of this are from 50-80 milligrams in a serving.
Side Effects
The side effects of Adrafinil are somewhat milder than Modafinil, because it is weaker. In the fight of Adrafinil vs Modafinil however, both side effects, though they may vary in terms of potency, are the same as far as what effects occur. These are:
