Six Nootropic Study Drugs

We all need to get our work done and make sure that said work is superior to our competition’s. Everyone wants to get a good grade or receive the approval of their bosses. But these are things that are hard to do when we’re feeling sluggish or spent. Studying and/or researching can be a daunting task, one that requires brain power that we sorely lack. Sleep, memory, and attention are key components to acceptable studying and the average person has a problem with at least one or two of the three. Fortunately, there are a number of supplements out there that may soothe our nerves and replenish our mental faculties. These are but a few of the study drugs out there that can help in all of the above areas of concern.

 1. MODAFINIL

A wakefulness-promoting agent, Modafinil is used to treat sleep disorders and excessive daytime sleepiness. A CNS (Central Nervous System) stimulant, Modafinil has been shown to be of great utility to those afflicted with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and is, therefore, an excellent choice for those who need to buckle down and focus on their studies. There are a host of potential benefits to Modafinil use including depression and anxiety relief, and increased energy levels. By normalizing sleep patterns, Modafinil leaves the user feeling rejuvenated and ready to meet life’s many demands.

Warning: While Modafinil has been approved by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) for use as a narcolepsy drug, this same committee rejected it for use as an ADHD medication. For this reason, our readers are advised to consult with their personal physician before taking Modafinil for this purpose. Likewise, pregnant and lactating women should not take Modafinil without discussing it with their pediatrician.

2. PHENYLPIRACETAM

Phenylpiracetam is another popular nootropic known to enhance cognitive functions such as alertness and memory. And for those of you who want to take a break from your studies to have a bit of fun at university, it doesn’t hurt that Phenylpiracetam is also a natural stamina booster, meting out that extra mojo you need to pull an all-nighter with the co-eds.
Fifty to sixty times stronger than other racetams, Phenylpiracetam gets ‘er done, giving the user renewed energy, improved mood, and enhanced alertness. Folks have also used Phenylpiracetam for physical performance and to increase learning ability. It has proven vital in memory consolidation and formation.

Warning: As a stimulant, Phenylpiracetam possesses the potential to cause adverse effects. When dosing with Phenylpiracetam, students and professionals should take care of their dosages as excess use could lead to headaches, irritability, nausea and other effects which would be counterproductive to your study routine.

3. ADRAFINIL

Adrafinil is another nootropic that has become a prevalent study drug in recent years, however, our readers are warned that this compound is no different than the above smart drug as Adrafinil is metabolized as Modafinil. Adrafinil works in exactly the same way as Modafinil—as a wakefulness-promoting agent for studying and depression. Ironically, Adrafinil withdrawal may lead to depression as we covered here.

4. VYVANSE

Vyvanse, or Lisdexamfetamine, is a stimulant that is used to treat both binge-eating disorder and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The drug’s official website cautions that it is not intended for weight loss purposes, but, nevertheless, people have been using it to this end. It is a powerful substance which has been found to aid in anxiety relief as well as studying. One user on Shroomery’s message boards wrote that he took it to study but, instead, ended up running, lending to Vyvanse’s reputation as a performance enhancer. Users on Reddit have also been vocal about its study-related benefits.

5. FOCALIN

Yet another stimulant, Focalin or Focalin XR has begun to take on the rep that other more established drugs like Adderall have long held. It has been implemented as a drug for autism, anxiety, ADHD and studying. Composed of a compound called dexmethylphenidate, Focalin’s benefits tend to last four to six hours, exerting powerful effects on those who take it. When compared to Adderall, it appears that users can take Focalin in lower doses to achieve the same benefits as the former.

Which, of course, brings us to…

6. ADDERALL

What can be said about Adderall that hasn’t already been covered by countless medical journals and news outlets? This long-established ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) med has been used for off-label purposes for years. Often taken recreationally by irresponsible teenagers and curious seekers, Adderall exhibits stimulant effects that unlock attentiveness, sharper focus and much, much more. Alas, like Focalin, it can cause irregular heartbeat and other cardiovascular issues when taken in high doses. In fact, Adderall’s side effects are so voluminous that one wonders why anyone has ever taken it at all when they could have sought out more viable options like the above-mentioned supplements.

Adderall’s potential adverse effects include anxiety, nausea, vomiting, tremor, agitation, headache, fear, dry mouth, diarrhea, unpleasant taste in the mouth, dizziness, excitability, nervousness, constipation, restlessness and more. So consider the first five drugs on this list before resorting to Adderall use.
