Modafinil for Studying

What is Modafinil and How can it be Used for Studying?

Modafinil is a schedule IV prescription drug that is approved for attention issues, as well as a number of sleep problems. However, the main uses of the drug are actually off label, and this is how we get to the subject of Modafinil for studying. Since Modafinil is a stimulant (well, a “wakefulness promoting erogenic” to be entirely specific) it functions to increase the number of neurotransmitters, including dopamine, serotonin, histamine, and noradrenaline. These, in combination, produce a significant stimulant and wakefulness-promoting effect, and can even create a mild euphoria.

For the purpose of studying, Modafinil, with its extreme wakefulness promoting and stimulant-like effects, can really make quite a smart drug. Modafinil enhances a number of neurotransmitters that can affect energy levels, mood, memory, and focus-attributes which are huge in relation to helping the individual at hand learn and study. Modafinil, since it is also long-lasting and almost prevents sleep, is great for pulling all-nighters, and for learning.

Even with less powerful study drugs, such as Adrafinil (nearly as effective but a tad bit weaker) on this specific website we have a HUGE portion of our customers that order from “.edu” email addresses. College kids are hopping on the smart drugs train because they’re realizing…just like huge amounts of investment bankers, start-up CEO’s, and everyday working people are realizing, Modafinil is extremely effective at enhancing intelligence, focus, and energy levels, which is a huge leg up on your careers. If you knew the boss was taking Modafinil, would you hop on yourself?

Modafinil vs Adrafinil for Studying

For studying, Modafinil is probably a tad better, however not much. Just because Adrafinil is legal doesn’t mean it’s chopped liver (is that how you say that…?) it’s about 90% as efficacious as Modafinil, and Hydrafinil is way stronger than Adrafinil, about 5-10 times as much. With this in mind, these are both awesome and legal alternatives to get your “afinil’ on. They’re usually far cheaper also.

Benefits

Modafinil is an FDA-approved prescription drug for a number of sleeping disorders but is often times prescribed by physicians for a worker-shift sleep disorder (a messed up sleep schedule due to working late at night, or just generally working weird hours) as well as for attention issues, sadness, and general lack of energy. As such, with all its strengths and capabilities, a number of students have hopped on the Modafinil wagon as a way to improve general focus, memory, mood and energy, and at an attempt to make the grade.

Most users are overachieving type-A personality individuals, and as such are going to love the energy and attention boost that something like Modafinil can give them for studying. Studies on many different online news outlets are showing that a huge portion of many university students, something like twenty to twenty-five percent are taking a stimulant that is not needed (a prescription one meant for attention problems). While this is something of a scary phenomenon, it also gives something of a glimpse as to what the future of competition might look like. And it’s not just students, millionaire start-up executives in Silicon Valley, Wall Street Bankers, and mathematicians have been known to use Modafinil as a way to significantly enhance their overall abilities.

Dosage

For studying for a test (take this with a grain of salt, this is not a medical recommendation, just the author of this blog’s opinion as both a smart drug user and as someone who has used Modafinil to study for a test before in the past) take 200mg of Modafinil. Modafinil is a very powerful stimulant nootropic drug and as such a low dose should always be taken before using. You may want to consider cutting the pill in half and taking just a 100-mg dosage to start. As with most things that work amazingly, Modafinil requires a prescription from your doctor to get your hands on.

Side Effects

Modafinil, with all its great benefits, can have a number of somewhat unpleasant side effects. These include dry mouth, stuffy nose, diuretic effect, tiredness (yeah you read that right…one of the side effects for a stimulant is tiredness, you can’t make this stuff up) loss of appetite, tunnel vision, inability to get to sleep. Side effects of Modafinil can certainly be annoying but are usually not particularly serious as long as a dosage range of 100 to 200 milligrams is followed, with a cap at typically around 400 milligrams per day. Modafinil has been taken by a number of popular brands and common entrepreneurs on the internet and is mentioned by those such as Joe Rogan, Tim Ferris, Dave Asprey, and Victor Pride, where they say that they’ve had amazing results with the drug.

Dave Asprey, now a multi-millionaire for his brand Bulletproof Coffee, and the Bulletproof lifestyle has said that he took the drug every day for almost 8 years straight with no ill side effects. Obviously he had a prescription for it, but nevertheless, this may just serve to vouch for the extreme effects that the drug can have on performance. Asprey has even gone on record saying that he would not be where he is today in his career without Modafinil. He even claimed he used it while he was getting his MBA at Wharton, a highly competitive university while running his start-up full-time that he sold for an unprecedented $6 Million Dollars! If that’s not proof that Modafinil works, I don’t know what is.

Effects of Modafinil have typically increased energy levels, better mood memory, and focus, more motivation, and greater productivity throughout the day. Ironically, I am actually on Modafinil at the time of writing this blog post and can feel my fingers chipping away at the keyboard at a pace that is much much faster than usual. Modafinil, unlike other smart drugs (except for other “afinil” related analogs such as Adrafinil and Hydrafinil), is very potent and gives the user a serious kick in the pants that many others like Piracetam or Pramiracetam lack. When using Modafinil for studying, this can give a serious boost to the user looking to improve overall brain function, and can 100% give an edge for anyone looking to make the grade this semester.

Long-Term Use

Long-term use of Modafinil is actually not recommended, and as it is a stimulant, and this can cause addiction and withdrawal. It also has not been researched extensively enough for this purpose.

Short-Term Use

Yes, this is what it was intended for.

Risk of Addiction

If taken at low dosages, and on an irregular basis, addiction risk is very mild.

Withdrawal Syndrome and the Risk of it Occurring

If it is taken on a very very regular basis, (like a stupidly regular basis, like 6 months straight with no breaks or something) then, yes, withdrawal from Modafinil will occur. If you take it infrequently and at a low dosage, however, around 1-200 milligrams, it will not. Modafinil is strong, and therefore there’s always a risk, with precautions, however, you’ll be fine!

Legal Status

Modafinil is actually illegal to buy online without a prescription, however, there are legal alternatives, such as Adrafinil or Hydrafinil. Modafinil is a Schedule IV prescription drug, but you can actually get it from your doctor for attention issues, tiredness, and for something called “work-shift sleep disorder” which is basically night owls, for individuals who have jet lag and fly a lot, or for those who work the graveyard shift on a regular basis.

Research

As it is an FDA approved prescription drug, there is actually extensive research to back Modafinil and its amazing array of benefits, and not just for treatment either. In-fact, Modafinil was actually, in the 1990’s I believe, sold over the counter in many stores as one of the first “smart drugs,” nootropics, or neuro-enhancing nootropic drugs. That is until people started eating it up like candy….because it worked like crazy, and before the FDA pulled it off shelves and turned it into a Schedule IV prescription medication. But still…the premise remains, it is indeed an effective smart drug, and if you can legally get a script for it, more power to ya!

Legal Schedule

Modafinil, Provigil, Modalert, Moda, all of these are FDA approved Schedule IV prescription drugs.

Online Reviews

There are some choice reviews about Modafinil available online. Modafinil is very strong, yes, but always bear in mind that it is very subtle for most users.
